I read Salisbury’s article on remote consultations with interest.1 The value many patients place on their doctor’s ability to diagnose based on clinical examination is interesting. I have been on the other side of the consultation, hearing my relatives complain when “the doctor didn’t even examine me.” It is a lesson to all medical students: reassure after a clinical exam, not before.
