Re: Clinical Excellence Awards—time for a fairer NHS rewards scheme
Dear Editor, excellent article from Dr Rao and her team, thank you. In addition other factors may play a likely role, like working in Trusts which do not support BAME staff, are stingy in their local awards scheme, the lack of clarity about the probity of the awards committees and possible backscratching, absence of accountability, ?blacklisting of candidates, the NHS getting work done for free, the resulting lack of career progression of those turned away and the detrimental effects on their pension at retirement. These expensive and divisive awards are best abolished and individuals offered respect with titles to congratulate success and achievement. All work done must be simply paid for.
