Re: Staff burnout: MPs demand “total overhaul” of NHS workforce planning
My colleagues and I are currently researching staff wellbeing in the paediatric intensive care environment. Therefore we read with great interest the green paper published on 8th June 2021 “Workforce burnout and resilience in the NHS and social care.”
The report was disappointing with little on how to address the issues raised in relation to personal and cultural matters.
However the recommendation “that the Department of Health and Social Care work with stakeholders to develop staff wellbeing indicators, on which NHS bodies can be judged” is welcome. There now urgently needs to be evidence driven and theory based interventions to reduce workforce burnout and build resilience within the NHS.
