GP academic can practise again after suspension for dishonesty is cut short

A professor of general practice who was suspended from the UK medical register for trying to hide from his employers the extent of his outside work has been allowed to return to practice.
Robert Walton, who was a professor at Warwick University medical school, was handed a 12 month suspension for dishonesty. Now a legally qualified chair of a medical practitioners tribunal, who reviewed his case on the papers, has decided that his fitness to practise is no longer impaired and has revoked the sanction.
