Mohankumar Adiseshiah (“Mo”) was a pioneering aortic endovascular surgeon, brilliant, charming, and naturally academic. Born in Chennai, the son of the renowned UNESCO educationalist, Malcolm Adiseshiah, Mo graduated from Westminster Hospital Medical School with the surgery prize. Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians, he trained at London’s University College Hospital as well as in Cambridge, Toronto, and Hong Kong. Appointed consultant and lecturer to Cambridge and Huntingdon in 1976, he threw himself energetically into upgrading the cottage hospital to a full district general hospital with the help of the then local MP, Sir John Major KG CH.
