Nicholas Wilson-Holt (“Nick”) decided from an early age that his future career lay in medicine. He was educated at Aldenham School in Hertfordshire, and as a young boy he supplemented his academic studies with chemistry experiments and biological dissections conducted in the garden shed.
He studied preclinical medicine at the Royal London Hospital, switching to the Middlesex for a BSc in immunology, during which time he published a book on the subject, and stayed there to complete his medical degree.
