Colette Taylor

Colette Taylor was born and educated in Liverpool, a city that remained dear to her heart throughout her life. She sat her school certificate exams a year early and finished school at the age of 17. She went to work in a veterinary pathology laboratory to gain some relevant experience before applying to study to be a vet. But her career aspirations changed when she was told that being a vet was no life for a woman. Instead, she decided that she would like to be a doctor and in 1954, she began her degree at Liverpool, becoming the first person in her family to go to university.
