Roger Hanif Armour (previously Ahmed) was a caring and compassionate man of great humility and of remarkable dedication and surgical skill. He was always a calming and reassuring presence who was admired by all who knew him from the most junior members of staff to his most senior colleagues. Everyone felt it a great privilege and a pleasure to have to worked for him.
As a medical student he was concerned by the children blinded by keratomalacia, which a few pennies worth of vitamins could have prevented. In his final year he held a fortnightly clinic in a poor part of Lahore, aided by an uncle in the Red Cross who supplied the medication. In …
