Distinguishing between newly diagnosed type 1 or type 2 diabetes can be challenging.1 As a nation, we are becoming more obese, thus increasing predisposition to type 2 diabetes, and we are more often recognising type 1 diabetes in older adults.23 This can blur the lines between type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
