"However, on the basis of what is presented here, this looks less like Apollo 11, which took Neill (sic) Armstrong to the moon successfully, and more like Apollo 13."

As no-one died on Apollo 13, a better comparison is surely the Apollo 1 mission, where three astronauts died while testing a capsule with numerous faults that never got off the ground.
