Mortality rates are lower with higher continuity of care, review finds

Higher continuity of care is associated with lower mortality rates, while discontinuity can cause patients to feel as though they are not being taken seriously, two studies have found in the British Journal of General Practice.12

However, despite mounting evidence that relationship continuity in primary care benefits patients, it is in decline, and “decisive action is required from policy makers and practitioners to counter this,” researchers warned.
