Re: Covid-19: Eight day quarantine is as good as 14 for returning travellers, study finds

Dear Editor:

Eight day quarantine is as good as 14 for returning travellers. In our study, 14 days' quarantine for travellers is effective and completely blocks the transmission of COVID-19. The importance for 14 days quarantine is huge. Because we suspected travellers as close contacts, and we convinced domestic close contacts to quarantine for 14 days. In Taiwan, we didn't close our school and stores, but a close contacts quarantine policy quickly decreases domestic confirmed cases to zero in three weeks until second wave of traveller related cases. Our study showed 100% block of transmission, if we sustain the policy for travellers and convince close contacts to quarantine, fewer citizens will be effected and that also means an increased economic growth rate (0.41% /half year 2020 in Taiwan).
