The covid-19 pandemic has seen a disproportionate number of deaths among the black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) population. Godlee rightly emphasises that “racism is a public health issue because it kills people.”1 I argue that a lack of diversity in teaching at UK medical schools, mirrored by many medical textbooks, perpetuates racial inequality.
