Scally and colleagues’ editorial on the UK’s public health response to covid-19 is disheartening.1The BMJ, with its global influence, has a moral obligation to publish articles based on scientific rigour. Sadly, there has been a trend towards “tabloid journalism,” with emotive language, misleading soundbites, and cherry picked citations.
