As the nation prepares to ease public health measures, there will be a considerable workload for services and departments across the whole healthcare sector, particularly where routine activities were paused. If the staffing and provision of care on the “long road ahead”1 is to be achieved to the highest standard, the role of trainee healthcare scientists must be recognised, and their skills maximised.
