Bruno Cheong was born on the island of Mauritius in 1957, into a modest family of five children. He left Mauritius in 1975 to embark on his medical training at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff and vowed to return and serve his island after his training.
Clinical training
After graduating in 1980, Bruno completed the majority of his clinical training in Wales and specialised in internal medicine.
