James Hume Adams, retired professor of neuropathology, died peacefully in Clarkston House, Glasgow, on Sunday 12 April 2020, in his 91st year. Hume—the name by which he was always known—was born in Glasgow and received his medical training at the University of Glasgow. He graduated MB, ChB in 1952 with honours and was awarded the Brunton Medal. He deferred his national service to undergo training in the department of pathology, Western Infirmary, Glasgow, under Professor D F Cappell, before joining the Royal Army Medical Corps in August 1955.
