Pablo Goetz was a meticulous consultant neurosurgeon, father of two, devoted husband—and the most humble, present, calm, and kind gentleman, to so many people, including his patients who adored him.
If you met Pablo, he would tell you he was from Argentina, but he was actually born in Paisley, Scotland. His parents were Argentinian, and his father was undertaking a year in Scotland as part of his PhD in Oxford. They moved back to Oxford for three years where his younger sister, Mariana, was born.
Pablo then moved to France living in a little village at the foot of the Jura mountains, while his father worked in Geneva. When his parents separated, Pablo’s mother, Mara, stayed in France with the two children. Mara would subsequently meet and marry a Swiss man, Roland Jeannet, who became Pablo’s stepfather. It was through Jeannet that Pablo first got into skiing and developed his lifelong love of the mountains.
