Hospital gowns: patients need to be dressed in a way that allows for proper examination

There is much to agree with in Oliver’s discussion of undignified hospital gowns.1 Certainly, the evidence of impact on self-perception and discomfort should be taken seriously. We must remain cautious in our condemnation, however, to avoid detracting from the need to have patients dressed in a way that allows comprehensive examination.
