About one in four doctors in specialty and associate specialist (SAS) and “locally employed” (LE) roles experience rudeness, incivility, belittling, and humiliation in the workplace, a survey by the General Medical Council indicates.1
Over 6400 doctors took part in the GMC’s first ever survey of SAS and LE doctors (a response rate of 13.5%), split almost equally between SAS doctors (3151) and doctors working in an LE post (3316) and representing around a quarter of the UK’s SAS doctors and 10% of LE doctors.
