Two days of talks in Glasgow have shown that UK politicians are as far apart as ever in developing a shared approach to tackling record numbers of drug related deaths.

Activists campaigning for better services for drug users are angry that a UK summit ended with no action, only promises of further talks. “This isn’t a game. People’s lives are at stake,” said Annemarie Ward of the charity Faces and Voices of Recovery UK. “We need to see action, not just a talking shop that makes politicians feel better about themselves.”
