Revamped emergency targets set to be phased in from this April

New NHS waiting time targets for emergency care will be phased in from this April rather than replacing previous standards straight away, a senior NHS official has said.
NHS England’s chief operating officer, Amanda Pritchard, told the Health Service Journal1 that ongoing testing of proposed changes suggested that the existing four hour target for seeing patients in emergency care—introduced in 2004—did not work well for the current model of clinical practice and service delivery.
