Michael Frederick Hasenfuss (“Fred”) passed his finals in 1970 and swore never to sit another exam. He undertook house jobs at Dundee and Stracathro hospitals in 1970-71. In 1971 he joined the newly formed Doncaster vocational training scheme as one of the first four trainees, when formal general practitioner training was in its infancy.
After successfully completing this, he joined a singlehanded GP in Doncaster with an additional appointment as GP course organiser (the original course organiser, the late Malcolm Taylor, had become the Sheffield Deanery’s regional adviser). Fred was instrumental in ensuring …
