A leading lung specialist who was cautioned by police for possessing extreme pornography involving bestiality has been suspended from the UK medical register for 12 months.

Peter Davies, an internationally recognised expert on tuberculosis, viewed images that “portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person performing an act of intercourse with an animal, namely a horse and a dog,” a medical practitioners tribunal heard.

Nine images depicting bestiality were recovered from his computer hard drive at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in December 2018. Davies, 70, was an honorary physician at the hospital after retiring in 2015, …
