Neurosurgery is highest paid specialty in the US, survey shows

Neurosurgeons are the highest paid US doctors, but internists and family medicine doctors are the most in demand, according to a new survey.1

In 2018, neurosurgeons reported annual compensation of $616 823 (£462 910, €554 697), followed by thoracic surgeons with $584 287, and orthopaedic surgeons with $526 385 (fig 1).
