GP wins High Court appeal against decision to erase him from medical register

A GP who was ordered to be struck off the UK medical register has won a High Court appeal quashing the decision.1

A medical practitioners’ tribunal decided in July to strike Olakunle Arowojolu off the register for sexually assaulting a receptionist at the health centre in Essex where he worked as an out of hours GP.

But his lawyers successfully argued at the High Court that the tribunal’s legally qualified chairman had misdirected the tribunal members about the way they should treat evidence that the receptionist, at the age of 14, had accused her grandfather of sexually abusing her for two years.
