Elizabeth Donald Hibbard started her professional life in Aberdeen, caring for sick children. She then turned to obstetrics and moved to London, where she met her future husband. They developed a symbiotic relationship in work and play, and their first joint publication won the BMA Katharine Bishop Harman Prize.
