The UK government must take urgent action to improve low levels of physical activity around the country, with particular focus on deprived areas, the BMA has said.1
The BMA warned of “stark inequalities” in exercise between people living in deprived areas and the rest of the country, in its report on increasing physical activity in the UK. It said that 34% of adults in the most deprived areas of England were classified as inactive, compared with the national average of 23%.
