US supermarket chain Walmart limits gun and ammunition sales

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer with more than 5000 stores in the US, announced on 4 September that it was no longer selling hand guns and military style rifles and would end the sale of ammunition for handguns and for the military style weapons used in mass shootings.

It said it would ask customers not to openly carry guns in its stores, even in states where this is permitted, unless they are police officers.1

Customers will still be able to carry concealed weapons in states where this is allowed if they have a permit.
