I’m sure this is true of most medics in the U.K. that have worked in the system doing on call and having to commute. I have personally been involved in an accident, a shunt, and I know of many other colleagues who have too. Driving with less than 4 hours of sleep increases your risk of a car accident by over 10 times from a US study. So it’s not surprising.
