Richard John Alexander Kell was born into a farming family near Wisbech. He attended Framlingham College, then trained in medicine at the London Hospital. After qualifying in 1979, he worked in London, Manchester, and Dubai before settling in Halesworth, Suffolk, as a GP, where he was a partner and trainer for 29 years. He also worked as a police …
