Former patients of Derbyshire psychiatric unit will be compensated for experimental treatment

Dozens of former patients at a psychiatric hospital who claim that they were experimented on by being held down and given sodium amytal as children in the 1960s and ’70s will receive compensation in a settlement scheme agreed with the NHS.

Claimants say that they suffered physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at the hands of Kenneth Milner, head physician at Aston Hall psychiatric hospital in Derbyshire, which closed in 2004.
