Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: time for visionary political leadership

Rapid Response:

And the dynamics will continue repeating ...

What would have happened if all the events, outbreaks and deaths described before October 17, 2018 in this article had taken place in a European Union or EU country? Would the situation have been considered a public health emergency of international concern?

The dynamics of health care are based today on prevention. Ebola is a highly infectious disease that peaks in countries where health systems are driven by poor management and a huge lack of resources. It is hoped, then, that an organization like WHO will take the reins in such a delicate situation where epidemiological outbreaks occur even with different strains of the virus. Unfortunately it is not so. According to this work, almost two months after the announcement on October 17, 2018 there was the second largest Ebola outbreak ever recorded. This should be a permanent public health emergency of international interest, do we want to continue registering unwanted milestones?
