GP academic is suspended for six months after misleading employers about outside work

A professor of general practice who misled his employers at Warwick Medical School about his outside work and earnings has been suspended from the UK medical register for six months.

When Robert Walton took up his post at Warwick in May 2017 he was already working privately for up to two days a week for Summertown Health Centre in Oxford and one day a week at Queen Mary University of London.

Before taking up his post he was told by the dean of Warwick Medical School that he would need to complete an application if he were to undertake outside work.
