Tribunal reaffirms decision that psychiatrist who was struck off can practise again

A doctor who was struck off the UK medical register in 2008 for engaging in sexual acts with a vulnerable patient has been allowed back on the register, despite a successful General Medical Council appeal to the courts against the decision allowing him to resume practice.1

Shekhar Chandra was a senior house officer in psychiatry working on the Isle of Wight in 2005 when he twice met a vulnerable patient at her home, engaging in oral sex on the second occasion. Two days later the patient was admitted to hospital after an overdose.
