Re: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: diagnosis and management: summary of updated NICE guidance

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has a high morbidity and mortality rate that affects different stages of life. This is because different factors and habits are becoming more common in our society (smoking, cooking without precautions of adequate ventilation, pollution, drastic climatic changes and more irritant conditions that damage the lungs and respiratory tract), which frequently and over time without proper treatment are precursors for different respiratory complications leading to a poor quality of life. Thus it is vitally important to inform our society about the different causes of COPD, to direct efforts by health personnel towards prevention and early treatment of these respiratory diseases, to educate society on avoiding degenerative damage a posteriori.

Good education on the prevention of this type of chronic diseases improves health benefits and should be sponsored and promoted by the different government departments.
