US suicide rates in young people are highest since 2000

Suicide rates among young people in the US have increased to their highest since 2000, new figures show.1
Researchers from Harvard Medical School analysed data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Underlying Cause of Death database and found that the suicide rate in people aged 15 to 19 increased from eight per 100 000 in 2000 to 11.8 per 100 000 in 2017.
