Mental illness: outgoing PM announces prevention plan

NHS staff, teachers, and social workers will get training to spot the signs of mental health problems, under a new prevention plan announced by the outgoing prime minister, Theresa May.
In an attempt to cement her domestic legacy in her last few days in office, May announced a package of measures to tackle what she called the “burning injustice” of mental illness. “We should never accept a rise in mental health problems as inevitable,” she said. “It’s time to rethink how we tackle this issue, which is why I believe the next great revolution in mental health should be in prevention.”
