Doctor under stress from treating bomb victims will not face sanction for attacking wife

A military doctor who roughly seized his GP wife and pushed her across the floor during an argument, leading her to call the police, will face no sanction from a medical practitioners tribunal despite a finding of serious misconduct and impaired fitness to practise.

David Roscoe, 41, who had been treating children injured in the May 2017 Manchester suicide bombing, had acted out of character while under exceptional stress, the tribunal found.

He was arrested by the police at his home, and the next day he pleaded guilty in a magistrates’ court to assault by beating. He received a conditional discharge for 18 months. Three days later he referred himself to the General Medical Council.
