Gabapentinoids—a group of drugs used to treat epilepsy, nerve pain, and anxiety disorders—are associated with an increased risk of suicidal behaviour, unintentional overdose, injuries, and road traffic incidents, new research published in The BMJ has found.1
Researchers looked at the associations between gabapentinoids and adverse outcomes related to coordination disturbances, mental health, and criminality, and found the risks were strongest among 15 to 24 year olds.
