Re: The modern firm

My personal circumstances were that I retired early at age of 56 after being a GP Principal for 27 years. My intention was to work as a locum and for various reasons mainly due to supporting family members with illnesses this was not possible. I recently enquired about returning to work part time especially now that indemnity will not be an issue. As I have been away for more than 2 years there seem several hoops to jump to be able to return back to work as a GP. Some of these hoops I can understand but it is a significant barrier for someone in my situation and the bottom line is why bother! There is no flexibility within the system and on the one hand there is a shortage of GPs and when people like me who feel they may be able to contribute to help with the so called crisis, the system puts you off.
