Mitchell and colleagues say that primary care teams are crucial in initiating and delivering effective palliative care.1 Implementing the Shape of Training review will see specialty trainees entering a dual accredited palliative medicine and internal medicine curriculum in 2022, increasing the number of medical consultants taking part in the acute medical take but not necessarily improving training in palliative medicine.2
