Patients surviving hospital stay for life-threatening conditions often experience an atypical state of consciousness or Near-death-experience (NDE), despite clinically undetectable consciousness.
NDE memories are not imagined memories, and at a neural level, NDE memories are stored as episodic memories.
Many of those survivors suffer from PTSD afterwards.
