Re: Statins for over 75s: how much money will go to the drug industry?

The June 2019 Tariff price for atorvastatin 20 mg tablets is £1.02 for 28 in England (£1.03 in Scotland) which equates to around £13 per annum per person or for 446 people around £6,000 per annum and around £30,000 for 5 years of treatment, dispensing costs not included.

I'm personally not in favour of medicalising an otherwise fit and healthy population so this response isn't because I am an advocate for statins in fit over 75s, quite the opposite, I just wanted to be sure the facts about the drug costs were accurate.
