Diversity: Boards of NHS national bodies fail to reflect BME workforce

The boards of England’s national NHS organisations continue to be dominated by white people, show the findings of the 2018 annual report of the Workforce Race Equality Standard for the NHS.1 None of the eight organisations that submitted data had a proportion of black and minority ethnic (BME) staff on their boards that matched the 19.1% of such staff in NHS trusts, though one board exceeded this level when expressed as a …
