Scottish MPs have called on the government to undertake an “urgent review” of GP recruitment and funding to tackle chronic workforce shortages.
A motion tabled by the Scottish Green Party, which recognised the “considerable challenges” in recruiting and retaining GPs in Scotland, was passed by MSPs after a debate in the Scottish parliament.1
The motion noted calls by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the BMA for general practice to receive 11% of the total health budget and called on the Scottish government “to undertake an urgent review of GP recruitment, resources, and funding.” …
