The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which represents 12 000 doctors in the United States, is suing the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), claiming that the government is disregarding concerns about faecal contamination in poultry.1
The lawsuit would require the government to prohibit the sale of raw meat contaminated with faeces and to have the term “wholesome” taken off inspection labels.
