Antibiotic use: don’t blame doctors for trying to manage patient expectations

Glover and colleagues claim that there is little evidence to show that patients are unreasonably pressuring general practitioners for antibiotics.1 By the same token, there is little evidence that patient expectation is not a factor in doctors’ decision making. Similarly, there is little evidence that doctors are always “blaming” patients for antibiotic resistance.
