NHS must support older doctors to counter drive to early retirement, says BMA

The NHS must make it easier for older doctors to continue working to help retain their skills and experience, says the BMA in a report.1

It warns that a significant portion of the NHS workforce is considering retirement and recommends that employers do more to support older doctors through flexible working arrangements and by removing barriers that discourage older doctors from continuing to work in the health service.
