GP partner is struck off for dishonesty in research

A GP partner who conducted clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies has been struck off the medical register for enrolling ineligible patients, dishonestly altering medical records, and attempting to divert payment meant for the contract research company into his private account.

Blackpool GP Jerome Kerrane worked as a principal investigator for Fylde Coast Clinical Research, a private company that shared the premises and computer system of his practice, Layton Medical Centre. The practice had been involved in medical research since the 1980s.
